I am a composer based in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. There is no particular style, genre, or instrumentation in which I specialize; rather, I enjoy composing in all styles. It is true that I have a soft spot for dissonant and strange musics, but this is balanced with a love for mainstream and an appreciation for the classics.
I am active as a church musician and composer, writing works for the handbell and chancel choirs which I have performed with. I find this an immensely rewarding outlet for my talents, as I praise my Maker through song.
In addition to composing, I also dabble in recording and performing. Some of my music can be found for purchase on bandcamp. I pride myself on playing most of the instruments on these recordings.
I take inspiration not only from a wide range of musics from throughout history, but also literary sources. Notably, I have a keen interest in history and weird fiction, which will sometimes provide the seed for a new work.
Composer's Statement:
Each artistic gesture is meant to address one of two chief aims: to reflect the world as is, or to imagine the world as it may be. In any and all circumstances, whether examining the realms of past & present or imagining a future or otherworldly realm, the artist cannot present an objective study, instead fusing the artistic vision with their own unique perspective.
To achieve one's artistic aims, one must be free to employ any means, any style, any form at one's disposal. Each work must be evaluated on its own merits, not dismissed as "too conventional" or "too cavalier;" "too simple" or "too complex."
My goal as a composer is to embrace and explore the gamut of musical expression, from uncompromising modernism to the music of the masses.
